Escape to North Cornwall for an Easter Holiday

Easter is a special time to visit North Cornwall for a holiday. It’s a season of rebirth and renewal, when nature emerges from winter and flowers blossom under the warmth of the spring sun. This makes it a wonderful time to get outdoors and explore the beauty of North Cornwall, or find a fun-filled Easter event to entertain your family. Whether you join an Easter egg hunt, feed lambs on a farm, take a stroll along the coast or brave the sea for a surf or swim, Easter holidays in North Cornwall can provide a spring break from the norm.

Here in North Cornwall, around the towns and villages of Padstow, Trevone, St Issey and Port Issac, there is plenty going on to keep you and your family entertained. Here’s our guide to some of the best easter events in our area and a little further afield.

Egg Rolling, Padstow

For traditional Easter fun, head to Cross House at the top of Duke Street in Padstow for the annual egg rolling competition on Easter Sunday (1st April) morning. Children are invited to bring a decorated hard boiled egg and roll it down the hill. The event raises money for the RNLI and attracts local and visiting families for a fun day out in Padstow.

Egg Hunt, Lanhydrock

Each year the National Trust organises chocolate egg hunts at many of its properties in North Cornwall. This includes the majestic Lanhydrock House near Bodmin, where visitors between Friday 25th March and Sunday 10th April can earn a Cadbury’s chocolate egg by solving clues on the whodunit trail around the gardens.

Sea Safari, Padstow

Take an exhilarating boat trip across the Camel Estuary and along the rugged Cornish coastline. At Easter time, local tour boat operators, including Wavehunters start taking guests out for powerboat adventures to discover the area’s rich marine life. Expect to see anything from dolphins, seals, puffins and many other types of seabirds.

Easter at Camel Creek Adventure Park

North Cornwall’s family theme park Camel Creek will open its doors over the Easter break for thrilling fun on its rides and in its play parks. Expect Easter egg hunts, face painting and an appearance from the Easter bunny. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the spring lambs in the petting farm.

St Endellion Easter Music Festival

Fans of classical music will love this spring festival in the intimate setting of the impressive 15th century Collegiate Church of St Endellion, taking place between Saturday 31st March and Sunday 8th April. Played by a mix of amateur and professional musicians, the festival includes a series of choral and orchestral concerts featuring music by Handel, Bach, Britten, Holst and other composers.

Kayak Tour on the Camel Estuary

Why not get active on a Kayak tour along the banks of the Camel Estuary? Several companies, including the Camel Ski School, run kayaking adventures from Padstow and Rock to explore the creeks and inlets of this tidal waterway. Expect to see stunning scenery and glimpses of the local bird and marine life.
