Where to Stay for February Half Term in Cornwall

If you’re planning to spend February half term in Cornwall you’re in for a real treat. This magical county has lots to see and do to keep families occupied for the school half-term break. You can explore the coast paths, make the most of quiet beaches, go for a family bike ride or visit some of Cornwall’s fantastic tourist attractions. It’s all here waiting for you at your February half-term cottage in Cornwall.

Whether you’re new to Cornwall or returning for the umpteenth time it can be a challenge to decide where to stay for a family half-term getaway. Each area of Cornwall has its own distinct characteristics and attractions to explore and enjoy, so it can be difficult to choose. We’re biased, of course, but we wholeheartedly recommend the Padstow area on the north coast of Cornwall for family breaks and cottage stays over the half-term holiday. Here are some of our favourite places to stay in our area for February half term in Cornwall.

Padstow

Padstow makes a great base for family holidays on the north coast of Cornwall. This is especially true for February half term. There’s always lots going on and plenty of shops, galleries and restaurants to experience and enjoy. Kids will enjoy the freedom of bike rides along the Camel Trail and walks along the coast and beaches towards Stepper Point. Further adventures can be had with a short trip across the estuary on the Padstow to Rock Ferry or a boat trip along the coast. While just uphill from the town centre is Padstow’s very own historic manor house Prideaux Place with its gardens and deer park, which is a firm favourite for families with young children. With plenty of amazing holiday cottages to choose from, it’s the perfect seaside place to stay for February half term.

Beaches

Most people come to Cornwall for its beaches. This is as true in February as it is at other times of the year. It may be colder but the beaches are no less beautiful in the winter months. You may not be able to stretch out in the sun or spend too much time in the sea like you can in the summer, but there is loads of space to stroll along the sand, ramble through the rock pools and clamber on the rocks. We have many beach retreats available for February half-term holidays on the coast, including holiday homes and cottages in Trevone, Harlyn, Constantine and Porthcothan.

Port Isaac

Port Isaac is another north coast town that has become increasingly popular for family holidays and half-term breaks. This is a distinctly Cornish town with steep, narrow streets leading to a picturesque harbour. Port Isaac is now famous as the filming location for television series Doc Martin and as the home of acclaimed chef Nathan Outlaw. It’s a lovely place to stay where kids can scamper on the beach or fish for crab from the harbour wall. The nearby coastline and beaches are great for coastal walks and surfing lessons. With a good choice of holiday homes and cottages, Port Isaac is an ideal family-friendly destination for a half-term break.

Countryside

Cornwall is not all about the coast. This county also has some beautiful countryside to explore. From woodland walks, creekside rambles and hill-top capers, families love to explore all the wild and rugged corners of Cornwall. For idyllic rural retreats in Cornwall, you can choose from the villages of St Issey or Little Petherick, as well as nearby hamlets such as Rumford and Trevibban, where you really can get away from it all. Holiday homes in these locations include quaint cottages and barn conversions, where families can relax in comfort and explore the local attractions including Camel Creek Adventure Park and Trevibban Mill Vineyard. And it’s only a few miles to Padstow and the north coast beaches.
