Insider tip: At low tide, you can walk northward over the rocky reef directly onto neighbouring Constantine Bay. However, always keep a close eye on the incoming water – the rising tide fills the low gullies first and can easily cut you off from the main beach.

Dog-Friendly Treyarnon Bay: Dog-friendly year-round, so your four-legged friends can do zoomies on the sand and join you in the tidal pools to cool down. The YHA Café is also dog-friendly.

Beachside Car Parks: There are two main pay-and-display car parks, right behind the beach. They are exceptionally convenient but fill up rapidly on sunny summer days, so plan to arrive before 10am.

Summer Field Parking: During the peak July and August holiday periods, local farmers open up the surrounding grassy fields for overflow parking.

Walk from Constantine: If Treyarnon is particularly busy, you can park at the nearby Constantine Bay car park and enjoy a beautiful, easy walk over the flat rocky headland to Treyarnon.

Plunge into the Legendary Treyarnon Tidal Pool
Wait for the tide to ebb and explore the northern slate ledge, where you’ll find Treyarnon’s crowning glory – a magnificent, 12-metre natural swimming pool. Surrounded by rugged, weed-draped rock faces, it’s deep enough for short swimming laps and completely sheltered from the open surf. No wonder it draws wild dipping enthusiasts from across the country.

Go Bodyboarding
When the swell is right, Treyarnon can produce spectacular, clean waves. Car Park Food Truck: Tuck into easy beach bites from this food truck in the main car park – perfect for fuelling up for beach days. Also, look out for additional food trucks that park up here throughout the summer months.

Locals’ Tip: Stroll along the cliffs to the south of the bay where you’ll find Melt food shack, serving Cornish coffee, ice cream and snacks with a side of sublime views.

It’s just over a mile inland to the village of St Merryn, where you can pick up legendary local pasties from Malcolm Barnecutt’s Bakery for a beach picnic, or enjoy traditional fish and chips from Fryer Tucks. Come summer the sands are dotted with colourful windbreaks, families splash in the rock pools, and the natural tidal pool becomes the ultimate destination for afternoon dips that turn into sundowners listening to live local bands.

Autumn: Wrap up and linger on the cliffs for fiery sunsets after sea dips and surfs in the golden autumn light.

Winter: Watch the Atlantic pound the rocky ledges, strike out to Dinas Head, then hunker in the YHA Café for a warm hot chocolate – or retreat to your cosy holiday cottage to dry off by the fire.
