With picturesque vistas at every turn, and the promise of fine summer weather, it is no surprise that Cornwall hosts some of the UK’s best-loved music festivals.
For music lovers, there is nothing more sublime than seeing your favourite musical acts perform live in the beautiful outdoors in Cornwall.
And this year, organisers have hooked some of the UK’s biggest acts, as well as well-known international bands and artists.
These unique summer events offer the perfect blend of nature and music at awe-inspiring venues throughout the county. For a musical treat, try to attend some of these amazing festivals during your holiday in Cornwall in 2020.
5th to 9th August
Boardmasters is Cornwall’s biggest and best-known festival that has been running for a solid four decades. After scrapping last year’s event due to storms, the festival organisers have come back bigger and better in 2020 with an impressive line-up of musical acts.
Topping the bill this year are Skepta, Dizzee Rascal, Kings of Leon, The Kooks and The 1975.
The massive surf and music festival is renowned for its laid-back vibe. Many people flock to Cornwall for the event, as it showcases not only the hottest musicians but also some of the world’s best competitive surfers.
Various dates in June and July
The Eden Sessions has welcomed some amazing musical acts to Cornwall over the years but 2020 is set to be one of the best yet.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Script, My Chemical Romance, Lionel Richie and Diana Ross have all been confirmed for gigs in front of the beautiful biomes at the world-famous garden attraction this summer.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the Eden Project and see world-class bands and artists perform amid amazing acoustics created in this natural amphitheatre.
29th to 31st May
The Great Estate bills itself at a giant, ‘rambunctious’ garden fete and takes place in the meadows and woodlands of Scorrier Estate near Redruth.
Now in its fourth year, this music festival promises a lively collection of acts and fun for all the family.
This year’s headline acts include Razorlight, Martin Harley, the Sugarhill Gang and Goldie Lookin Chain. Additional entertainment includes comedy acts, old-fashioned sports, yoga sessions and a silent disco.
24th to 26th July
This may be one of the smallest festivals on the summer circuit but it’s one of our favourites. This year, top local chef Paul Ainsworth is hosting the event and will bring quality food experiences to the proceedings.
As well as music sets from the Dub Pistols and Land of Giants, there will be a whole range of entertainment and activities to try at this family-friendly festival.
The Rock Oyster Festival will take place in the grounds of Dinham House on the banks of the Camel Estuary, so it’s only a short hop from our base here in Padstow.
1st to 3rd May
Tunes in the Dunes is a vibrant music festival that is set on the fantastic golden sands of Perranporth Beach in Cornwall.
With the ocean only a stone’s throw away, festival-goers enjoy awe-inspiring views of the cliffs and sand dunes during this three-day music festival.
Some of the headliners for Tunes in the Dunes this year include talented artists Ronan Keating, Richard Ashcroft, Oh Wonder and Atomic Kitten.
24th to 26th July
Billed as the ‘greatest house party in a field’, Leopalloza has developed a reputation for attracting some of the UK’s top musicians.
Metronomy will headline the festival on Friday night, followed by the sensational Goldfrapp who will shake up the party on Saturday night. Other confirmed acts include Mystery Jets, The Mysterines and Sinkane.
Leopallooza takes place at The Wyldes near Bude, so it’s close enough to the coast for a visit to the beach during the long weekend. As well as first-class music, there’ll be theatre acts, comedy and family entertainment throughout the weekend.
11th to 13th September
For a laid-back Cornish party in a beautiful rural setting with big live bands, head to the Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival.
Positioned on a real, working orchard near Perranporth, the festival celebrates the apple harvest with cider walks and tasting of cider varieties from all over the UK.
Top bands booked for this year include Fun Lovin Criminals, Willie and the Bandits, and Elvis-themed Nirvana tribute act Elvana.
With music festivals happening almost every weekend in the summertime, there is no reason why you shouldn’t book a holiday with your friends and family in Cornwall this year. Head over to our accommodation search to check availability for your stay.
