With a stay in Padstow you can take a break from it all, restore your senses and wrap up warm in the comfort of your own holiday home.

Here are some of our favourite events, activities and things to do during New Year in Cornwall.

Take a Stroll on the Beach

This is the ideal way to unwind and enjoy the amazing coastal scenery. The are loads of beautiful beaches within easy reach of Padstow. For a short walk try Trevone or Harlyn or, for a longer stroll, head out along the cliff path to Hawker’s Cove or take the ferry over to Rock to explore Daymer Bay.

Book a Table at a Padstow Restaurant

Celebrate in style by booking a table at one of Padstow’s fantastic foodie restaurants. Many places will put on special New Year menus or throw a party on New Year’s Eve itself. Top restaurants in town include Rojano’s, Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 and any of Rick Stein’s wonderful establishments. Space will be tight so it’s sensible to book ahead.

Get in the Spirit of Things at a Local Pub

If being away from the celebrations at home is too much to bear, you could always head down to any of the pubs in Padstow where there is bound to be a party in full swing. Local favourites include the Old Customs House, Shipwrights Inn and the Harbour Inn.

See a Fireworks Display

See 2019 in with a bang by attending the one of the fireworks displays which light up the Cornish coast at midnight on New Year’s Eve. You can enjoy a small display above the harbour in Padstow, or travel to Newquay or St Ives where large spectaculars will light up the night sky to welcome in the New Year.

Celebrate New Years Holiday in Cornwall

Join a Fancy Dress Party

In coastal towns throughout Cornwall, there’s a tradition to dress up in fancy dress on New Year’s Eve. One of the largest fancy dress parties takes place in Newquay, where revellers parade through the streets in characterful and elaborate costumes as they move between pubs, bars and nightclubs.

Take a Dip in the Sea

You can’t come to Cornwall without at least dipping your toes in the sea. Or you could go the whole hog and join one of the New Year dips at one of the local beaches. If you’re up for the challenge there are organised mass dips at Looe Beach, Crantock and Newquay Harbour on New Year’s Day.

Go Skating at Eden

Get your skates on for fun on the ice below the biomes at the Eden Project. Each year, this attraction’s event space is transformed into a winter wonderland where you can enjoy festive food and drink as well as skating on the seasonal ice rink. Afterwards you can warm up with a walk around the tropical biome and explore the exotic plants and trees from all over the world.
