7 Reasons to Take a Short Break in Cornwall in 2019

Quick Getaways on the Cornish Coast

Cornwall naturally tops the list of the UK’s best short break destinations. The seaside county has loads to offer for people who want to get away from it all for a quick blast of sea air and spectacular scenery. As one of the UK’s top tourist destinations there is always plenty of things to see and do, as well as loads of great places to stay in all corners of the county.

There are hundreds of reasons why Cornwall is the ultimate short break destination. We’ve narrowed it down to just seven reasons why you should take a short break in Cornwall in 2019.

1. Escape to the Coast

A short break in Cornwall at any time of the year can be a tonic. There’s something magical about spending some time by the seaside. This has a lot to do with the beautiful coastal scenery, bracing sea air and unique Cornish atmosphere. It’s an opportunity to escape the routines and responsibilities of everyday life for a few days of fun and adventure on the coast.

2. Take a Foodie Break

Cornwall is a first class foodie destination with many fine restaurants and eateries to enjoy on a short break by the coast. In Padstow we have some fantastic restaurants including those run by Rick Stein and Masterchef favourite Paul Ainsworth. Just a few miles away, as the seagull flies, across the Camel Estuary in Port Isaac, is the Michelin starred Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, which has recently been named the UK’s top restaurant by the Waitrose Good Food Guide (2019).

3. Get Some Rest and Relaxation

We all know how busy and stressful normal life can be. So sometimes a break away somewhere different is the perfect opportunity to get some hard-earned rest and relaxation. Not only will you have access to some comfy and luxurious holiday homes, you can also pamper yourself silly at nearby spa resorts. Picture yourself relaxing on a comfy sofa, in front of a roaring fire overlooking the water. It’s all waiting for you here in Padstow.

4. Take a Whirlwind Tour

Not everyone will want to stay put during a Cornish short break. If you’re the kind of person who likes to pack in experiences while you’re away, there is plenty to explore here in Cornwall. Whether you limit yourself to the wonderful scenery and attractions in the Padstow area, or venture further afield to villages, towns and attractions in other parts of Cornwall, you will not be disappointed.

5. Learn a New Skill

A short break can also be a time to learn a new skill and Cornwall has lots of outdoor activities and creative experiences to indulge your quest for self-improvement. If you fancy watersports, there are numerous surf schools in Cornwall where you can take a surf lesson to learn the art of wave-riding. Or perhaps sailing or water skiing is more your thing. Otherwise you could enrol on a weekend course at an art school, join a photography workshop or learn how to play golf. The opportunities are endless.

6. Attend an Event

Another good reason to visit Cornwall for a short break getaway is to attend one of the many events or festivals that take place in the county each year. There are many musical events including the Boardmasters Festival and the Rock Oyster Festival. Or if you’re a sporty type and like to challenge yourself when you go away there are many runs, swims, cycles, triathlons and madcap adventures you can join, including the Padstow to Rock Swim.

7. Snap up some short break deals

Perhaps one of the top reasons for a short break in Cornwall is that you can often snap up a special offer or last-minute deal for a weekend or midweek getaway. This is especially true if you’re able to visit outside school holidays when prices are much lower and there is a greater choice of properties.
