Ice Skating at the Eden Project – Now until 24th February
Get your skates on and head down to the Eden Project for a spot of ice skating – there’s no better way to kick off 2019! The whole entertainment space at this environmental fun park is transformed into a winter wonderland with snowflakes and hot chocolate, creating a truly magical experience. Whether you take little ones or go on your own to spin, leap, and show off your skills, it’s great fun for everyone.
Winter Twig ID at Lanhydrock – 9th February
Explore the beautiful grounds of Lanhydock and get up close and personal with the flora and fauna that flourishes there at this Winter Twig ID workshop. You’ll be guided by rangers as they teach you how to identify a tree simply from the twigs they grow whilst also sharing their incredible knowledge of the grounds of this historic estate.
Padstow Obby Oss – 1st May
Join the traditional May Day celebration as Padstow locals and visitors gets together to celebrate the Obby Oss. This boisterous street festival of music, singing and dancing has its roots in centuries old Cornish history. It’s a colourful scene and a great day to visit our picturesque harbour town.
Van Gogh and Britain 27th March – 11th August
Head to Tate St Ives in 2019 for an incredible exhibition showcasing 40 of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings, titled Van Gogh and Britain. Some of his most famous works will be on display, including Starry Night on the Rhone, Shoes, and Sunflowers, as the exhibition explores how British culture inspired one of the most celebrated painters in history. It’s a must for any art lover, and a chance to see an amazing collection of work – don’t miss out!
Porthleven Food Festival – 26th-28th April
For all you foodies out there, Porthleven Food Festival should be a highlight of next year’s calendar. For three days, the beautiful harbour of Porthleven and the surrounding areas are home to some of the finest foods, with chefs from across the globe cooking up tasty treats and offering plenty of drink to accompany it with. There’s also live music, parties, and plenty of activities for little ones, so why not bring the whole family?
European Legends Golf Tournament at Trevose – 21st-23rd June
Whether you’re there to watch or play, golfing fanatics should definitely head over to Trevose Golf & Country Club near Padstow for the European Legends Links Championships. It’s the perfect day to get out under the sun and watch some world-class sport. Amateur golfers can even have a go themselves, playing alongside pros in a standalone competition, before watching the final round where the professionals show us all how it’s done.
Boardmasters – 7th-11th August 2019
Grab your surfboard, roll-out your yoga mat, and dance the night away to some of the biggest acts in music at Boardmasters, the ultimate beach-side festival. Every year, surfing pros and music lovers get together in Newquay for five-days of fun. The festival also focuses on wellbeing, with holistic workshops and activities always on the go, so you’ll return home feeling either rejuvenated or worn out.
St Ives September Festival – 14th-28th September
Make the most of the last of the summer sun at St Ives September Festival. This 14-day extravaganza in the coastal town of St Ives first began way back in 1977 and has become a real hit amongst locals and tourists alike. There are around 300 events across the town, including live music, art exhibitions, cabaret and plays, and every café, pub, and outdoor space turns into part of the festival.
Newquay Night Surf – date tbc
One of a very limited number of night surfing events around the globe, it’s no surprise that Newquay’s Night Surf attracts a whole lot of attention. Pro surfers swarm from all over to take part, heading out in the dark of the sea and surfing under the floodlights to win the title of Night Surf champion. Make your way down and watch them ride the waves after dark.
Padstow Christmas Festival – 5th-8th December
Finish off the year with a bit of magic at the Padstow Christmas Festival. There’s no better way to get in the Christmas spirit! With demonstrations from pro chefs, a lovely Christmas market with food, drink, and plenty of little gifts for some last-minute shopping, and an epic Santa Fun Run that’s a pretty funny sight, it’s a great event for both adults and little ones. Bring the whole family and make the most of the festive season.
