September is a beautiful time of year to visit Cornwall. Early Autumn is quieter than the summer, the sea is at its warmest and you’ll have a choice of awesome properties at amazing prices.
Let’s face it. The summer here in Cornwall is fantastic. But if you aren’t constrained by school holiday dates, September may be a better bet. Padstow, in particular, can get very busy in the summer so if you like to escape the crowds, consider taking your holiday in Cornwall in early Autumn instead.
The weather is usually pretty good all through September and into early October, especially if the UK enjoys one of its welcome Indian Summers to stave off the Autumn coolness.
The local beaches also empty out meaning you could get a gorgeous sandy beach all to yourself or with only a few other people. This is a great season for long walks along the beach, exploring the caves, rockpools and cliffs.
If you own a dog, they will also enjoy the freedom of our dog friendly cottages and walks on long sandy beaches, some of which permit pets outside the main summer season.
What’s more the sea temperatures peak in Cornwall in late August and remain comfortably high throughout September, making it a great month for sea swims and surfing sessions. And if you enjoy surfing, the waves can be at their best during the Autumn swells.
If you’re into good food and dining out you’ll enjoy shorter queues at cafes and easier reservations in restaurants, which are often fully booked in July and August.
But perhaps the biggest bonus is that holiday cottages and homes are available for more favourable prices from September onwards. This makes early Autumn the perfect time to pick up a stunning seaside property or rural retreat at an affordable price.
