Dog Friendly Beaches in Padstow

Many of the beaches around Padstow welcome dogs, making it easy to enjoy the coast with your pup in tow. Some, like Harlyn, Constantine, Porthcothan and Hawkers Cove, are dog-friendly all year – perfect for walkies in any season. Others, including Trevone and Polzeath, are great for early morning or evening strolls, but have restrictions in place between 10am and 6pm during the summer.

Dog Friendly Things to Do

From scenic boat trips to stately homes and gardens, Padstow is packed with dog-friendly attractions – no wonder it’s one of the top spots in Cornwall for a holiday with your hound.

Start with a stroll around the harbour or hop on the Black Tor Ferry to Rock – dogs ride free. If your pup loves an adventure, hit the Camel Trail for a walk or cycle. You can even hire a dog trailer from Padstow Cycle Hire, so they can roll along in style.

At Prideaux Place, one of Padstow’s star attractions, dogs on leads are welcome to explore the gardens and deer park. Fancy venturing further afield? You’ll find more dog-friendly days out nearby, including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and several National Trust properties.

Dog Walks in Padstow

With waggy-tailed walks on beaches, coast paths and countryside trails, holidaying in Padstow is a delight for dog owners. Strike out along the South West Coast Path in either direction for cliff-top views, hit the Camel Trail from Padstow to Bodmin, and head from coast-to-coast along the Saint’s Way pilgrimage route.

You don’t have to stick to the coast for capers with your canine – the surrounding countryside is criss-crossed with scenic footpaths beckoning you and your furry friend out for a stroll. Climb the peaks of Rough Tor and Brown Willy on the wilds of Bodmin Moor, and discover the woodlands of Lanhydrock and Cardinham.

Pet Shops in Padstow

No need to over-pack holiday supplies for your dog – we’ve got some great pet shops here in Padstow. Right beside the harbour, Slicker’s Doghouse stocks a wide range of dog products and accessories, including organic dog food and doggie ice cream.

There’s also a pet store located at Trevisker Garden Centre on the outskirts of town, where you’ll find everything from dog food and treats, to beds and bath time luxuries. Dogs are more than welcome, and there is also a vets on site.

Dog Friendly Pubs and Restaurants

No need to leave your dog behind when you’re heading out to eat – Padstow’s bursting with dog-friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants where your four-legged friend is just as welcome as you.

Soak up the harbour views with a pint and a snack at Shipwrights, the Harbour Inn, or Old Custom House, where water bowls and biscuits are on hand. For a sit-down meal with your dog at your feet, head to Rojano’s – Ainsworth’s laid-back Italian-inspired restaurant with a stylish interior and outdoor space, or take a table on the terrace at Greens of Padstow for locally sourced dishes and sweeping estuary views.

If you fancy venturing a little further, The Cornish Arms in nearby St Merryn (part of Rick Stein’s collection) is a brilliant dog-friendly pub serving hearty classics in a relaxed setting.
